Who We Are

Women For Health Donate Funds in Support of

Valley’s Palliative Care Program

The Valley Hospital Foundation’s Women For Health membership group has elected to designate their 2013 collective gift of more than $90,000 to The Valley Hospital's Palliative Care Program.  The funding will be used to employ either a part-time social worker or a part-time registered nurse who will join the interdisciplinary team and help to extend the palliative care services to additional patients.

Valley’s Palliative Care Program offers a team approach to medicine focused on preventing or relieving pain and other physical, emotional, or spiritual distress that can accompany serious illness.  It draws on a range of resources and professional expertise and is designed to work in partnership with the patient’s primary care physician to ensure complete, well-coordinated care.

Women For Health was founded in 2011 with 30 charter members who want to make a difference in medicine at The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care. Currently there are 91 members.  Women for Health members individually commit to a two-year gift commitment of $1,000 per year.  As a group, they hear and evaluate presentations on a variety of Valley's programs and services; then the group selects which Valley program or initiative will be the recipient of their collective gift.

Previous gifts made by Women For Health to Valley include funds to purchase two Lucas CPR Chest Compression Systems for use in Valley's Mobile Intensive Care Units, and funding for The Valley Hospital's "Done in a Day" program, which is designed to meet the health screening needs of women whose access or lifestyle issues interfere with scheduling appropriate wellness screenings. For more information about Women For Health, contact Sandy Carapezza at The Valley Hospital Foundation at 201-291-6300 or click here.
