Who We Are

2nd Annual Chemo Care Project for Valley Breast Cancer Patients

September 28, 2017 Ridgewood, NJ — In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Meg McCluskey, an independent business owner and stylist for Stella & Dot, is organizing the 2nd Annual Chemo Care  fundraiser to provide support to breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at The Valley Hospital.

To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, McCluskey is encouraging the community to donate $27 towards the purchase of a chic Stella & Dot pouf, and 100% of her commission will go towards filling these adorable makeup bags with things aimed to provide comfort.  Last year, with the help of Meg’s daughter’s Girl Scout troop in Suffern, they filled more than 50 of them with socks, lip balm, mints, lotion and even hand written inspirational notes to each patient, and delivered them to the Infusion Center at the Blumenthal Cancer Center located at The Luckow Pavilion.

“This was very well received last year, and we’re so pleased Meg decided to repeat this again in October.  Our breast cancer patients really appreciate this very personalized gift, especially the hand-written notes.” said Valerie Quigley, RN, and the Manager at Valley’s Infusion Center.  “The inspiration, encouragement and ‘don’t give up’ messages from even an unknown voice mean so very much.  It’s important that each of our patients remain hopeful — and know others in our community are rooting for them.”

The Valley Hospital Breast Service is grateful for this generous donation.
