Valley Hospital Foundation Honors Leaders in Philanthropy

Ridgewood, New Jersey, May 17, 2016 – On the beautiful spring evening of Thursday, May 12, the Valley Hospital Foundation hosted its 15th annual Leadership Reception at the Ridgewood Country Club. Nearly 200 leadership donors attended the event and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails before the presentation portion of the ceremony commenced.

Anastasios Kozaitis, President of the Valley Hospital Foundation welcomed the guests and thanked them for their attendance. “The Foundation had another successful year in 2015 and that success was only possible because of you.” He continued “Your commitment to Valley is a strong statement to the resolve of our community that high quality healthcare needs to be right here.”

Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System, paid tribute to the Valley supporters and philanthropists, and recognized special guest Senator Robert Gordon sitting in the audience. Ms. Meyers reflected upon the recent significant affiliations with Mount Sinai Health System and Cleveland Clinic, and announced some of Valley’s most recent awards and achievements. “These results are made possible through the dedication of Valley’s physicians and staff and through the support of all of you – our generous and caring donors,” she affirmed.

Ms. Meyers then welcomed Dr. Gail Matthews to the podium, who is Valley’s Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chair of Women’s Services for the Valley Medical Group and Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Matthews unveiled plans underway in Women’s and Children’s Services Department.

One of the evening’s highlights was recognizing Mr. Vic Viggiano, Chairman and Chief Executive Office of the Okonite Company, for making a second extraordinary commitment of $5 million to The Valley Hospital Foundation in support of the Valley Health System’s Translational and Clinical Research programs.

In appreciation for each of their leadership gifts, recognition awards were presented to honorees James P. and Nancy Bush, Rodney and Gerry Verblaauw, and two representatives from TRO Jung Brannen, Jamie Newton and Dennis Stone.  Dr. John McConnell was also recognized as the Foundation’s newest Legacy Donor for including the Valley Hospital Foundation in his estate plans.

The evening wrapped up with dessert, coffee, and a great appreciation to all of the donors. Guests were handed a copy of the 2015 Philanthropy Report as they departed.
