Valley Hospital Foundation Honors Leaders in Philanthropy

Ridgewood, New Jersey, June 5, 2017 – On Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30pm, the Valley Hospital Foundation hosted its 16th annual Leadership Reception at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes. Nearly 160 leadership donors attended the event and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails before the presentation portion of the reception commenced.

David Bohan, Vice President & Chief Development Officer of the Valley Hospital Foundation, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their attendance and support, and spoke about the healthy possessiveness that many donors share as they affectionately refer to Valley as ‘my hospital.’ Mr. Bohan stated, “This emotional, lifelong and philanthropic commitment to Valley Health System forms a special bond that we – as a neighbor and healthcare provider of choice – value and strive to maintain and grow.”

Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System, also paid tribute to the Valley supporters, talked about the renovations taking place in the Center for Childbirth as a result of philanthropy, and announced some of Valley’s most recent awards and achievements. “Your support helps Valley Health System be the organization that tens of thousands of individuals rely on for quality health care,” she asserted.

Audrey then welcomed Dr. Ephraim “Fry” Casper, the Chief Medical Officer, Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care.  Dr. Casper plays a leading role in the growth and development of the Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care program and spoke about its remarkable progress and plans for the future.

“Valley’s unwavering commitment to patient- and family-centered care, its culture of excellence, service, respect, and teamwork, and its appreciation of the importance of a collaborative relationship with a major academic center remain central to the mission and direction of Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Care,” Casper confirmed.

In appreciation for each of their leadership gifts, recognition awards were presented to honorees Tom and Alice Palmer, Bob and Lenni Puritz, The David and Eleanor Rukin Philanthropic Foundation, and Bill and Kay Yeomans.

The evening wrapped up with dessert, coffee, and words of appreciation to all of the donors. Guests were handed a copy of the 2016 Philanthropy Report as they departed.
