Rain Dampens the Course, but Not Spirits

at the 5th Annual Scramble Fore the NICU

Ridgewood, New Jersey September 28, 2016  Despite the rain on Monday morning, September 19th, about 115 golfers gathered at Valley Brook Golf Course in River Vale for the 5th Annual Scramble Fore the NICU golf outing.  The event was organized by Frank Manginello, M.D., Andrew Chalhoub, Don Doraski, John Hodson, James Lin and Eric Wickstrom, all of whom had children cared for in Valley’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

“Despite the wet weather, we still had a strong crowd of people show up to support Valley’s NICU program again this year” states Don Doraski.  “Most of us are parents of children who were born prematurely and treated by the wonderful doctors and nurses of Valley’s NICU.  Each year we return to this golf event to raise funds that will help other parents continue to experience this quality care".

To date, this event has raised over $98,000, which includes this most recent outing having generated just over $19,000 for The Valley NICU.  Tickets were sold for $175 per golfer, which included 18 holes of golf and lunch with prizes and a tricky tray raffle.  The outing was once again sponsored by Ernst & Young. Also, HTS New York and Panasonic continue to be a large supporters of the event, and send plenty of golfers to attend.

The Valley Hospital’s 15-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Ridgewood, NJ has been designated by the State of New Jersey as a Level III nursery, a designation given to neonatal units able to provide the highest level of care for the highest-risk mothers and acutely ill newborns. Comprehensive medical care is provided by board-certified neonatologists, who are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
