Project Hearts to Homes Makes a Special Delivery to Families in Need

Ridgewood, New Jersey October 14, 2016.  On October 12, 2016, 25 baskets of baby diapers, laundry detergents and other infant supplies were delivered to the offices of Valley Home Care by two young ladies representing a new non-profit organization, Project Hearts to Homes Corp.

Project Hearts to Homes Corp. (www.hearts2homes.org), started by sisters Alexa (16 years old) and Emily Char (14 years old) from Woodcliff Lake, raises money to create packages for low income families and families with premature infants. The Char family has participated in an internal philanthropic project within Valley Health System designed to helping those less fortunate, The Giving Tree.

Therefore, since Project Hearts to Homes’ mission is to “provide packages with supplies that aid in the care of premature infants, as well as packages that consist of basic necessities”, this year, they naturally partnered with The Giving Tree.  Alexa and Emily worked closely with Susan Geier, Hospice Support Specialist at Valley Home Care, and her internal team to identify the specific needs of the low income families with infants, and raised funds and donations from online donations via their organization’s website, Facebook page and Instagram as well as through corporations and various high school chapters that they established throughout Bergen and Passaic counties.

Through The Giving Tree, over 6,000 gifts are distributed each year to more than 90 families in need in the northern New Jersey vicinity.  The Giving Tree is an internal Valley Health System project led by Susan Geier, other members of Valley Home Care and volunteers, and has been growing year to year since its inception over 20 years ago.  Each year more and more Valley staff from various departments within Valley Health System become involved to donate toys, much needed supplies, and gift certificates to adopted families in need.  The Valley Hospital Auxiliary and many community organizations and area businesses have also joined in and collaborated with Valley on this wonderful mission during the December holidays.
