Support Valley's Cardio-OB Initiative to Care for Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension Patients
Valley's Cardio-OB Initiative aims to screen, identify, treat, surveil, support and save the lives of pregnant and postpartum mothers with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDPs), when every minute counts.
Will you join us in helping save lives by making a gift to purchase one or more Bluetooth enabled monitoring watches? The monitoring watches evaluate a patient's blood pressure and transmit readings to the patient's doctor. The cost of one watch and the associated monitoring technology is $82, and we hope to fund 600 devices this year.
Valley's program supports women with regular post-discharge check-ins during the first six weeks when risk is highest, as well as with Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure tracking devices that can transmit readings to the care team, patient education, awareness, and support.
In the United States and locally at Valley, an increase has been seen in pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia - all of which can lead to higher morbidity, mortality, and stroke in new mothers. At Valley, over 550 of Valley's close to 3,800 deliveries in 2023 involved an HDP, a number expected to increase this year.
