President and CEO, Valley Health System
Audrey Meyers, FACHE, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Valley Health System, a nationally recognized regional healthcare system serving northern New Jersey and southern New York. During her more than 40-year career with Valley, she has held key executive leadership positions in strategic planning, management, operations, and governance. Named President and CEO, first of The Valley Hospital in 1999 and then System President and CEO in 2003, Ms. Meyers has been a member of the governing board since 1999 and brings a deep knowledge of business and healthcare.
As President and CEO, Ms. Meyers is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operations of one of New Jersey’s busiest hospitals, which has been ranked among the top three hospitals in the state by U.S. News and World Reports and in the top 10% of all U.S. hospitals by Newsweek. She also oversees a busy homecare agency, which has achieved the highest 5 Star Rating for patient satisfaction from CMS, and an award-winning medical group of 400 physicians and advanced practice providers across 50 specialties and multiple locations.
Under Ms. Meyers leadership, Valley has thrived as one of the few highly successful standalone hospital systems in the country through the development of key strategic relationships with leading national healthcare systems, fostering a culture of service, performance, and high reliability, and driving a rigorous systemwide approach to margin enhancement through growth and cost control. Since becoming president, revenue has grown from $250 million to over $1 billion and the hospital’s profitability has increased from breakeven to among the most profitable in the country.
In addition, Ms. Meyers led the organization through a very successful debt offering to support the construction of an $800 million state-of-the-art replacement hospital on a new 40-acre site in Paramus, New Jersey. This project, to be completed on schedule in 2023, will provide a first-class health and wellness destination for the entire region.
Ms. Meyers achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) in 1996 and received the Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award from the ACHE in 1999. She was honored as a Distinguished Citizen by the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors in 2006, was named in 2014 as one of the NJBIZ Best 50 Women in Business and was recognized for exceptional achievements by U.S. Senator Robert Menendez at the Eighth Annual Women’s History Month Celebration in 2018. Ms. Meyers is included as one of the top leaders in both the NJBIZ Power 100 list as well as its list of the Health Care Power 50.
Ms. Meyers earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
