Celebrating 75 Years of The Valley Hospital: A Tradition of Philanthropy

This year, Valley Health System celebrates the 75th anniversary of The Valley Hospital. For 75 years, our physicians, nurses, and clinical teams have cared for friends and neighbors in our community with a commitment to quality and excellence that is unmatched.

The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood opened its doors on August 8, 1951, beginning what would become a lasting legacy of exceptional, compassionate care for the people of Bergen County and northern New Jersey — and beyond.

As we celebrate 75 years of providing Care Like No Other®, we look ahead to Valley’s bright future, but we also pause to celebrate and honor Valley’s past and the dedication and support that helped us reach this point.

Even before The Valley Hospital was built in Ridgewood, members of our community came forward and offered their philanthropic support to make a healthcare facility in their area a reality. Over the more than seven decades that followed, philanthropy has supported the growth and expansion of our health system, enabled the development of new programs and services, supported the creation of Valley Medical Group and Valley Home Care and Hospice, and helped guide the way for Valley’s future.

Most recently, our community’s generosity raised $145 million through the Serve. Care. Transform. campaign, which supported the construction of The Valley Hospital in Paramus, a premier, state-of-the-art hospital in our region.

Over time, Valley grew to include Valley Medical Group and Valley Home Care, creating a network that serves the inpatient, outpatient, and home care needs of our community, honoring Valley’s commitment to care for people in our region when and where they need us.

Valley has evolved into a comprehensive healthcare system with locations across Bergen County and beyond, providing the highest level of care.

In our new home in Paramus, Valley has enhanced its capabilities with state-of-the-art facilities, expanded services, and implemented the very latest technologies. Our clinical teams continue to raise the bar to meet the healthcare priorities of our region, and to anticipate and plan for future healthcare needs.

The support of our friends and neighbors is just as critical in Valley’s next chapter as it has been to date, and we are grateful for your ongoing commitment to being a part of Valley’s story.

Thank you for the role you play in building Valley’s legacy — today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
